THE “WHY” - Purpose of the Position                                                                                             

 The Project Officer will be responsible for managing the field-level program implementation in target districts of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and for achievement of the field level outputs through participant mobilization and follow up, engagement with local stakeholders and partners, and activity planning, implementation, and reporting.

THE “WHAT” - Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Organize and implement field activities in Balochistan or Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
  • Mobilize participants for activities in the target districts, including women.
  • Coordinate closely with local partners by maintaining contact, attending activities, regular reporting, and ensuring that activities are running according to the plan.
  • Ensure activities are contextually relevant and sensitive to the local context, particularly the needs of women or minority participants.
  • Serve as focal person in the field for Search stakeholders, maintain respectful and constructive relations, and ensure regular meetings and ongoing coordination.
  • Assist in the collection of data and collaborate with the M&E and Communications teams to monitor the quality of activities and gather participant feedback.
  • Ensure a safe working environment for all people involved in project implementation and maintain the highest standards of behavior when working with the community targeted. 
  • Adherence to all organizational policies and procedures as outlined in Search policies and procedure manuals.
  • Follow all organizational protocols and regulations according to guidance provided by the HR department.
  • Carry out frequent field visits to targeted districts to facilitate and supervise project’s activities.
  • Keep Project Manager informed of progress achieved and challenges faced (through regular reports).
  • Ensures implementation of activities as per the work plan and all related documents and logistics are prepared and approved. 
  • Participate in reflection exercises and monitoring activities with program and M&E staff to analyze findings and contextual updates and adapt programmatic approaches to maximize outreach activities and the overall project’s impact.

The “HOW” - Skills & Competencies

 Education:

  • A university degree or equivalent certificate/diploma or similar qualification from a recognized establishment or equivalent experiences. Masters in Journalism/Mass communication will be given a preference.
  • Association with local or national press clubs is an added advantage.

Experience:

  • At least two (2) years of professional experience in a similar position including extensive fieldwork
  • Experience working in Balochistan or Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
  • Experience with community mobilization and administrative, organizational, and operational project work

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the current affairs in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) provinces
  • Strong knowledge of local context and dynamics in Balochistan and KPK provinces
  • Strong community mobilization skills
  • Ability to analyze and present information in a clear manner
  • Ability to work independently and problem-solving skills
  • Honest, hardworking and committed to community development and peacebuilding.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, creativity and enthusiasm while working in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of local media landscape including universities, press clubs, local and national newspapers and media houses
  • Cultural sensitivity and gender sensitivity, understanding of locally-sensitive approaches to engaging and mobilizing women participants
  • Ability to work under pressure and in challenging environments
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances
  • Willingness to travel regularly between Search’s field offices and target locations
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and Urdu. Proficiency in Pashto is an added advantage.
  • Excellent report writing skills
