Job Summary:

Under the guidance and supervision of Nutrition Coordinator, oversee the implementation of Concern Pakistan nutrition projects esp. CMAM Surge in district Umerkot, Sindh. Provide technical inputs and capacity building support to NGO partners on nutrition specific programming. Responsible to set up and coordinate Concern’s nutrition response with relevant stakeholders and representing Concern on various forums at district level.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Work towards effective, timely and quality implementation of nutrition projects.
  • Regular visit to project sites and liaison with district authorities, implementing partners and communities.
  • Strengthen coordination with Health Department, Nutrition Cell, UNCIEF / WFP at district level and ensure that relevant line department staff are aware of and approve the intervention
  • Participate in Cluster / working group meetings at district level and liaise with District Health Officer, District Nutrition Focal Person, UN agencies and other relevant stakeholders
  • Assist in capacity building of NGO partners on CMAM, CMAM Surge, IYCF and other nutrition interventions  
  • Liaise with the Senior Health and Nutrition Advisor based in Islamabad regularly for technical assistance and support  to ensure that nutrition project is in line with Concern’s nutrition guidelines and implementation strategy
  • Estimate, request and follow-up delivery of material needs for programme from appropriate sources (e.g. RUTF, nutrition equipment, other supplies, etc.)
  • Regular review and use of project data to formulate recommendations for better programme implementation as needed, to better serve the target beneficiaries
  • Prepare monthly and other periodic reports for Concern, government and other stakeholders as required
  • Promote and ensure compliance with the requirements of Concern's Code of Conduct and Associated Policies to ensure maximum protection to programme beneficiaries
  • Ensure optimal use of financial, human and material resources within Organization work; in a transparent and accountable manner consistent with Organization’s systems and procedures delivering quality results and demonstrating value for money
  • Any other task assigned by the supervisor

Relationship

Internal: Programme Manager, Sr. Nutrition Coordinator, Concern Islamabad/ Hyderabad Office staff, Concern Partner Organisations, other relevant staff/ stakeholders

External: Concern Local NGO Partners’ staff, WFP, Clusters / working groups, I/NGOs and relevant government departments

Person specification:

  • Minimum sixteen years of education; Bachelor in Medicine, Nutrition, Sociology, Community development or relevant field. However, candidates possessing qualification in medicine or nutrition will be given preference
  • Minimum 3 year experience working in nutrition and/or public health, particularly around CMAM / CMAM Surge, IYCF interventions, etc.
  • Experience in capacity building and mentoring of staff
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills in English and Urdu Knowledge of Sindhi will be an asset
  • Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, internet, etc.)
  • Experience working with local government departments and local partners
  • Experience in nutrition surveys, including data analysis
  • Good interpersonal communication, writing and presentation skills

Accountability:

In carrying out the above duties, Concern Pakistan approved procedures must be followed at all times. Post holder will be accountable for the overall nutrition interventions.

Authority: As per authorization and delegation framework, procedural manual and SOPs.

Special Circumstances: Concern Worldwide, like other INGOs, sometimes has to operate in risky environments/areas. Organization has a Security Management Plan (SMP) for all possible risks. As part of essential staff responsibilities, the position may be required to work in emergency situations.

Performance Standards:

Based on the above mentioned Duties and Responsibilities, specific performance standards will be worked out in consultation between Director of Programmes and Programme Manager - Sindh.

Any breach of the Organization Code of Conduct or the Programme Participant Protection Policy by employees of Organization during the course of their employment will result in disciplinary action up to, and including, dismissal.
