Chief of Party (COP)

Chemonics seeks a chief of party for the proposed five-year, $15 million Ghizaiat Nutrition Activity. This multi-sector nutrition activity will work to improve the nutritional status of the Pakistani people especially women and children living in the newly merged districts (NMD) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province. Ghizaiat will focus on increasing local production, commercialization and consumption of nutritious foods, and increasing households’ awareness of good nutrition and hygiene behaviors. The COP will be responsible for providing technical leadership to the program and will serve as the primary point of contact with USAID/Pakistan. The project will be based in Islamabad. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide overall project leadership, management, and technical direction while ensuring compliance with USAID requirements, U.S. government regulations, and Chemonics policies and procedures
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Chemonics and USAID/Pakistan, in addition to serving as a key liaison to project stakeholders and partners, including local government, non-government, and media organizations and counterparts in the public and private sector to coordinate activities and facilitate monitoring of and reporting on project objectives and achievements.
  • Drive the achievement of all project results, overseeing project work planning, performance management, and risk forecasting and mitigation
  • Work directly with the GoKP at the provincial and district levels, and with private and nonprofit entities to design and implement appropriate nutrition-sensitive agriculture interventions
  • Promote productive participation of women in agriculture and create market-driven and market-sustained economic opportunities for women, youth, and victims of war
  • Supervise key personnel and technical and administrative staff
  • Oversee program administration, implementation, and financial management to ensure program implementation aligns with budget allocations, internal Chemonics policies, and USAID regulations

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or higher in public health, nutrition, agricultural economics, social sciences, or a related technical field required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience of progressively responsible experience managing and implementing USAID or other donor-funded nutrition, WASH, agriculture, social and behavior change communications, and/or public health projects.
  • Experience working directly with government counterparts, international donors, and local organizations on health service delivery, agriculture, access to markets, or systems strengthening.
  • Experience managing large, complex donor projects, particularly USAID-funded contracts, as chief of party, team leader, deputy chief of party, or senior technical advisor.
  • Proven success collaborating with diverse stakeholders including local governments, community leaders, donor officials, NGOs in Pakistan and specifically the KP province required.
  • Experience planning and implementing programs in FATA preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.
  • Fluency in English, Urdu and Pashto required.
