Purpose of the post

The Protection Team Leader leads the implementation of protection activities in accordance with the objectives and strategies defined by the delegation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • PhD or Master’s degree or equivalent (preferably in law, international relations, or social sciences).

  •  Previous experience of working with criminal justice actors e.g. police, prisons, legal fraternity etc.

  • At least 8 years of work experience in a similar field.

  • Advanced knowledge of the global humanitarian protection context.

  • Confirmed team leadership and management skills.

  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills.

  • Ability to travel in and outside Pakistan at short notice.

  • Fluent in written and spoken English; fluency in Pashtu and advanced knowledge and understanding of the Pakthun culture.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the management of the Protection Office in Peshawar sub-delegation, providing Restoring Family Links (RFL) services to families of detainees abroad and supporting the capacity-building of the Pakistan Red Crescent’s work on RFL in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

  • Advises the sub-delegation on the strategy on ensuring protection of those affected by disasters/emergencies in KP.

  • Contributes in the identification of resources required for the implementation of the programs under her/his responsibility.

  • Assists in ensuring effective integration of the ICRC protection standards within the overall operational approach and programs of the sub-delegation.

  • Support the ICRC engagement with actors of the criminal justice.

  • Develops and maintains a network of contacts in the field of protection, including authorities/criminal justice actors, international organizations and non-government organizations.

  • Participates in the annual planning and budget elaboration, and monitors implementation.
